Hand on Skin

Cosmetic Pre- and Post Care Instructions

  • Avoid the use of: Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, Motrin, Ginkgo Biloba, Garlic Supplements, Green Tea, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamins A and E, Omega-3, and Fish Oil for up to one week before and after your treatment, as they can increase your risk of bruising.

  • Avoid the use of alcohol for 24 hours before and after your treatment to avoid excess bruising.

  • You may take Arnica tablets 2-3 days before and after your treatment to reduce the risk of bruising.

  • Do not use Botox if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, are allergic to any of its ingredients, or have a history of neurologic disorders.

What to Expect

  • Initial Appearance: Small, visible bumps may appear at the injection sites. These are normal and typically subside within a few hours as the product is absorbed.

  • Timeline of Results: You will begin to notice effects within 2–7 days, with full results peaking at the 2-week mark.

  • Follow-up Policy: If a refinement or additional product is desired, we require a minimum waiting period of 14 days post-injection to ensure the initial dose has reached its full effect.

  • Bruising & Tenderness: Minor bruising, stinging, tenderness, or discomfort may occur during and/or following the treatment. This does not affect your final results and typically resolves within one week. To expedite healing, you may use Arnica Montana (topical gel or oral tablets).

Activity Restrictions and Positioning

  • Post-Treatment Posture: Remain upright for at least 4 hours following your procedure. Avoid resting your head, lying down flat, or reclining during this window; sit upright. It is ok to momentarily lean down, but do not rest your head in a downward position for a prolonged period within the 4 hours following treatment.

  • Physical Activity: Refrain from strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours.

  • Temperature Regulation: Avoid activities that significantly elevate your core body temperature, such as saunas, hot tubs, or professional massages, for 48 hours.

  • Pressure & Accessories: If your forehead was treated, avoid wearing tight hats or headbands for 48 hours.

Skincare and Cosmetics

  • Gentle Cleansing: You may wash your face this evening using gentle motions. Do not massage the treated areas.

  • Device Warning: Avoid using mechanical cleansing brushes (e.g., Clarisonic) or abrasive exfoliants/scrubs for at least 24 hours.

  • Cosmetics: Resume your daily skin care regimen the evening after treatment. Makeup, moisturizers, and lotions may be applied the following day. Use a light touch and avoid applying firm pressure to the injection sites. Avoid dermal rollers for two weeks following treatment.

Managing Side Effects

  • Muscle Engagement: "Making faces" or gently exercising the treated muscles (up to 10 times per hour for the first few hours) may help the product integrate, though it is not required for efficacy.

  • Discomfort: For headaches, localized tenderness, or discomfort, you may use over-the-counter pain relief such as Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) or Acetaminophen (Tylenol).

  • Vision Sensitivity: If you experience mild blurring or light sensitivity, we recommend wearing sunglasses and using lubricating eye drops. This typically resolves within 2–3 days.

  • Systemic Symptoms: Rare, flu-like symptoms may occur. These are temporary and can be managed with rest, hydration, and standard over-the-counter medications.

IV Therapy Guide

It is vital that we are aware of whether a patient is taking any vitamins, supplements, or medications to prevent overusing vitamins and adverse side effects related to that. It may benefit patients to continue regular supplements and vitamins when necessary; however, this must be discussed with and approved by a provider to ensure safety.
